Cd-drive not showing up

Hey guys
I just went to play a game (cd in my CD DRIVE), and it said please insert the disk into the CD drive. I checked my cd drive and its in there. I take it out and put it back in and normally a screen would come up saying play, install, re-install, exit etc.. but nothing came up. strange. so then I went to my computer and noticed my CD Rom/Drive isnt showing up. weird hey!!

Hi Dan

If you can check the cables with PC off to the CD Drive to make sure they are firmly plugged in.

Another cause is the upper and lower filters and this guide HERE shows you how to fix this, may need to re-install any CD burning software if that software cannot list the drive, this is normal and a re-install of burning software fixes this.

Do the upper and lower filter thing first as thats a common fix for CD drives not showing up.

Go to start, run and type regedit. Locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
