Hello. I was hoping someone could help me because I'm stuck!

I recently signed up for broadband internet and they sent me a CD to install the programme on my computer. I've never had a problem with my CD drive before now however when I put this CD in the green light on the hard drive which normally flashes when it is reading the CD was constantly on and my computer kept crashing. Yet as soon as I pressed the eject button the computer was fine again. I managed to install the internet using an older version of the instalation CD they sent me but now my CD drive will only run some DVDs (albeit slowly) most computer programmes but no audio CDs or CD burning either - the green light is always on again but the computer doesn't crash.

It can't be a hardware problem because it still runs some stuff, it can't be a software problem because CDs which used to work now don't, and I've tried everything I can think of with the computer settings.

Please please can somebody help me??

thanks for any help you can give,

    Bob

I think this could still be a hardware problem.

If this is a DVD drive you bought yourself, look for updated drivers & firmware.

If this is a DVD drive that came with a system, check the manufacturers website for updates or give them a call and let them know (warranty?)

    Good Luck.
