On my wife's computer the cd/dvd drive has quit working. Is there something I can try to fix it? I hate to hire someone to do it unless I have to.

When CD/DVD drives fail, fixing them is not cost effective. You can get a new DVDRW (DVD burner) for under $60, and a new CDRW for under $40. If you just need a std. CDROM, they're under $35. You can probably get a used one at a small PC store for $20 or less.

This IS a new one --about 3 months old. Maybe I will get it working. Thanks
