CD-DVD rom driver

I am looking for the driver for an LG GSA T20N cd/dvd rom. I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop and the system is not recognizing the cd drive. I have tried all the fixes. There are no registry filters, it does not show up in device manager, but it appears to try to start - ie: noise, flashing green light, etc. Can anyone help me find the driver. Thank you much!

 

This is just a standard EIDE DVD writer. It doesn't require any special driver, the driver is built into Windows.

Try removing the device in Device Manager, and letting windows re-detect the drive (a reboot is required). That solves this type of problem most times.

 

Remove the Drive and clean connections with Isopropyl Alcohol

 

If you have a CD/DVD cleaning disk, place it in the drive and/or carefully spray the inside of the drive with compressed air. It's possible dust build up is affecting the read/write ability.

If all else fails you may have a bad drive. Even if the drive light comes on and the PC recognizes it, the laser may be going bad.
