cd problem

This started last night. My wife's computer will not recognize the cd tray. No matter what cd she puts in she gets the message that there is no cd in the tray. Any help will be appreciated and if you need more info let me know. Thanks Don

 

Possible that the CDs lens just needs a cleaning! I recommend that you invest in a cleaning CD. They are available at any department, office supply or electronics store. They do wonders on this type of problem.


If the lens is too dirty to play even this CD, then you might try opening the case of the CD drive, and gently cleaning the lens with a Q-tip. This could void your warranty, however, so only do this if the above step doesn't work, and the drive is old enough to be no longer covered. (if it is still under warranty - EXCHANGE IT)
