    Hi
i just got a cd with a magazine with mostly audio files but a couple of folders with with video clips in too. I know this coz i tried it on my friends pc and seen them in windows explorer. When i try to view them on my pc though, it is just recognised as an audio cd and cannot display the folders with the clips, which is why i bought it in the first place. is there some way to stop windows doing this (its XP by tyhe way)

    thanks

Sounds like you have a Mixed Mode CD. How old is the CD drive in your computer? It may not be able to read Mixed Mode CDs.

probably about 3 or 4 years old. Its not that though, i forgot to mention, ive had this problem before about a year ago (same pc, cd from same magazine) but managed to right it. Since then i formatted my hard disk about 3 months ago, maybe somethin to do with that, but anyway it can be done!

Just one thing here to add: If that magazine starts with the word
"maximum", then don't worry about it. Those guys are better at
putting out weirdo disks than just about anybody.

Note: They will often send you a new disk if the one you got
won't play well with your computer....

errr...it doesn't start with 'maximum', its just Total Guitar. It's been the same with the last few months discs so i don't think its the cd

Do you have any other cd's with folders on them that maybe you made?
Some security apps that maybe you backed up to cd that you could try?
Maybe even try to throw a similar cd together to see if it will burn,
and if it will play back. Just to try to narrow the problem down further.

Its definitely not the cd. i just bought a music CD, which is supposed to be enhanced with PC stuff on it, but same problem. Is there something in the drive properties that can stop the cd drive from recognising its an audio cd automatically?

PS i tried to find the folders in the DOS window and couldnt find them there either
