CD-R and DVD-R drives acting naughty

    Ok here's my situation

    I have a CD-RW drive that writes CD-R's but does not read regular software CDs

    I also have, in the same comp, an HP DVD writer 200 that reads software CDs, but does not write DVDs, only CD-Rs.

    Why do my drive have such selective functionality??

    I hate cdrw's dvd burners and the T.V dvd recorder I have downstairs,I use all of them as little as possible to burn/record stuff but my drives have become much more behaved now I have service pack 1 and 2 and all the updates.Burn this.
