I just about made a big boo-boo!...after I typed all this in i was not logged in so i had to try to get back log in again..and thank heavens for COPY- PASTE!
i hope it post it this time!

I found only one topic that looke dclose to my problem...
first off ...i have the .....e-monster 600 came with
    64meg ram-upped it to 196
    256 cashe
    20gig hd...I added 80gig
dvd.....I now have a combo 4 in 1 Maddog dvd rom- cdrw x52
    3d navida video
    56faxmodem-now dsl usb
    hp-printer-copier
    Pentium 3 processor
    and a tv card
    17' monitor....old15" died
    came with win 98 se
the system has served me well for a couple years now
and even better with the expansions I have done recently
then last month i started getting shit down errors...
    old blue screen...
fatal 0E exception error at 0028:c02a27a8 in vxd vwin32(05)
    +000012d0
then cd started to seem like it would not read (old cd-rwx4)
until it got so if I tried to read a cd it would not...and would reboot ???until i cleard some hd
space (maybe coincedence) but eventually that cd got worse .real flakey reads..and died....
so i bought a new maddog 3 in 1 cd-rwx52 that seemd seemed to read ok and write ok until it also started having trouble reading disks also
until I put a cd in and it ran VERY VERY ....high speed.....BAM!!!!
shattered the cd disk....i dumped out the pieces but of course it was
gone....so instaed of waiting for it to be repaired (2 yr war)
i bought the 4 in 1 (the same with dvd also $20 after rebates)
well that one also read poorly and rebooted the system most of the time...
so to me that looked like new power supply time....so i Ordered a 230
watt supply(it only had a 120 watt in it)so i thought for sure that would fix it
...no such luck....same thing reboots machine almost every time i read a
cd and an installation cd of any kind ALWAYS reboots it...continuously
thats even after i removed all but the 20gig hard drive!
I checked the estimated ps site and found i needed about 190 watts
so it seems like that 230 should do the trick....I would have gotten a larger one 350 watts or so but i was worried abouit physical size fitting....this one is largest made for atx e-machine exact replacement. So bottom line now is ...i can do anything with the machine but, use any cd-rw (i tried another one)
yet the only problem i can see is that fatal exception error....so now what?
i been thinking about checking power-good 3.3 v to see if its being pulled down......i gues that will tell me for sure if its hardware or software problem...then again is anything FOR-Sure on these things...i bben around em for over 20 years and never seen anything like this....though i did spend many long days and nights pondering over the older systems. B4 WIN.
any help is very apppreciated ....i wish i could just say oh well i don't need my cd ....but i DO! ....and soon......what do you exparts think?....thanks for your time and help guys
