    Hello!

I'm using Presario B1200 laptop. My CD-ROM won't eject automatically. There always pop a message that the CD-ROM has error in ejecting.

Before it all happened I was formatting a DVD it failed many times and when I eject it and put it in again it wasn't able to read it and so I tried to eject it but this time it won't.

Can any please help me know the problem?

If you hold your finger on the eject button on the drive itself it should eventually release it.
I have had this problem twice only and on both occasions it worked.

Most dives have a SMALL HOLE on them that is a emergency release (both notebook and desktop) just push a small pin into the hole and it should eject the drive.
just note that their will be some resistance so some pressure is required.

    Hi training

Try going into the device manager and disabling and reenabling the CD/DVD Drive, if that has no effect try updating the driver, if it finds no newer driver, uninstall the present one and search for an update again.

Also to pop over to HP website --> http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3454124 .....and see if ther is any updates for your set-up.

[if your not sure how to get to the "device manager" .....

Hello! Thanks for all the reply. The CD-ROM won't read the CDs anymore.

~Q~ > I've tried Disabling and Enabling but still the same. Also, it is written that my CD-ROM is working properly. But as I told you it is not. :(

BILLCCM66 > The eject button is no longer working.

paradoxdream > It is working but the CD-ROM won't read the CDs.

A combo drive has two different lasers; one for CDs and one for DVDs. If DVDs work but not CDs, it sounds like the CD part is dead.
You can either look for a replacement or try an external drive.
