cd rom

    i was wondering if someone could help me all of a sudden my cdrom is gone when i look in the device manager itis not there and when i click on errors i get drive x is using an ms-dos compatibility mode file system (this comes up for the cd rom) and i also geet compatibility mode paging reduces overall system performance and that windows me was unable to identify a real-mode driver can anyone please tell me what to do. thanks

    Reboot into safe mode and see if your drive is listed in the system. If it isn't then it may require special drivers that aren't provided by windows. If it is and you know you have the drivers, try reinstalling them while in safe mode. If this doesn't work then try removing them all together while in safe mode then reboot windows should redetect the drive and then install the drivers for it. Let us know if any of this helps.;)

    If anybody sees this post and feels it may be something else feel free to correct me, as I'm only a hobbiest and this is based only on my personnal experience.

    uninstall windows sp2 if u hav eit
