    My Grandson owns a Dell Inspiron 2600 with a Samsung CD-ROM SN-124.
Is it possible to replace it with a DVD-Rom ?
Any help would be appreciated or point me in the right direction.

I tried Dell support. Not much help.

    Thank You.

Yea, you can purchase ANY DVD-Rom/DVD-RW or whichever drive you would like. Its fairly simple to connect too.

Simply remove the sidepanel. Disconnect the Cables from the back of the CD-Rom, unscrew and remove the CD ROM, replace with DVD Rom, Screw DVD rom in, Replace Cables, and your done!

The computer will automatically recognize the drive.

    sleepygamer213,
Sorry I forgot to mention, this unit is a laptop.

    I am considering an external.

    Thank You.
