hi, just plunked down $ for a new pc for my son. he has some burned cd's, that i'm guessing have illegal .mp3's, that won't playback properly. store bought cd's play fine. is this what a lot of the DRM is about? cd-roms won't playback illegal songs? or could it be another issue like poor cd disc quality. thanks i do know xp but am a bit naive to file swapping and the riaa.

It really depends on how they were burnt and in what format etc.

It could also be that the disc is incompatible with your drive.

What are the files on the disc displayed as?

They should play if they are in an mp3 format.

The only thing I can put it down to is either the disc itself, or how they were burnt.

Quick question, are you trying to play these mp3 back through the PC or a HiFi CD player?

IF HiFi cd player is it MP3 compatable?
