cd-rw not recognizing cd-rs

well i have a cd-rw that does not play burnt cds it does not even recognize that there is a cd in the drive. as for data cd it does not show any thing on the disc..
( when i double click on the cd drive in my computer )
It does however play store bought cds.
i have checked the burnt cds on another computer and they all work...thease cds are full of mp3s and software that i want to install on my computer...
the cd-rw is a
ATAPI cd-rw 52x24x52
in a 700 mghz celeron
with service pack 1 ( i have sp2 just not installed yet )
with 192 of memory
windows xp home
