Lets see if anyone knows if this can be done...

Vzw cell phones. Its a family share plan. recently renewed the contract on two lines getting two phones in the process. I'm stuck with an old one. Is it possible to take one of the two upgraded phones and deactivate it and activate the phone being used before the upgrade instead? basically a revert. Then, would that phone (the upgrade) would be able to be activated on the non upgraded line?

I'm figuring you can, seeing as you can buy a phone off of ebay or through the store paying the "retail" cost and still use it. This is done if your plan is not up for renewal i suppose, and you want a new phone.

Now, if i am able to do all that, when the non upgraded line is up for renewal in summer 06, could i get the contract for another 1 or 2 years and use the upgrade i purchased during that on the line that i took the upgraded phone from.

Now i assume thats confusing. But i need help on this. anything i can make clearer?

I'm not quite sure of all of what you said, but... I am pretty sure that you can use whatever phone you want to use (as long as it's a Verizon). I don't know how to activate an old phone, but if you call customer service, they should be able to help ya. I've had problems with my phones and they've made it right with me everytime. Hope that helps. :)

if your phone doesnt have a built in sim card you can do this. i have a friend that bo ught a cellphone from hong kong. he used google to get the codes and crap to set up the internet. if your going to buy a phone overseas make sure its unlocked. it will save alot of trouble

There are websites you can pay a small fee and they give you a code to unlock it. I paid 15 quid to get my motorola unlocked from Orange in the UK before coming to the US :)

    What is a "quid?"

Have you spoken to a VZW store (not Radio Shack- a company owned store) or have you called customer service about the possibility? There are websites of phone nuts and there are verizon only sites also.

Sprint told me if I activate an old phone, I cannot get a upgrade for 1 yr to a new phone, and it was 4 dollars more to use the old phone than simply buy a new phone. I still get a new phone on my line in December for having 2 yrs of use.

I left VZW when the enacted 9PM nights instead of 7. That was almost 5 yrs ago.

It can be done. The question is will they do it.

Most cell phone company want you to renew/extend your contract when ever you change anything. Verizon is good at extending your contract just because you called "customer care".

I'm betting you will not be getting very far if you walk into a retail shop.
They like to sell new and get new contracts. Most don't care about helping exsiting customers. No $ involved for them.
