    Hello,

So I'm walking the path to becoming a computer hardware engineer. I want a job being a computer tech guy or something before I get into my BA. I figured it's a good idea to mess around with broken PCs while studying for my CompTIA A+, and I also figured it's a good idea to talk to my peers.

I hope I'll get great tips from you guys. If I do, my stay here may last far after my A+ exam, or even after my BA degree.

    Yo Ninja,

Congrats on your path. There are a couple things to know about certs. I finished my MCP back in 2004 and to tell you the truth I really cant remember all of the classes I took. I have A+ net+ os and everything else that goes with a MCP. My instructors wanted me to go for MCSE but that was another 12,000 dollars. This was not something I could justify for a entry level job paying 10.00 an hr. My advice to you would be that you consider going for a BS in Comp science. The people I know that make any money with certs. are the security guys. These are the people that have their CCNA certs and have actual experience in the industry. It may take awhile to make any money in this industry. With a Comp Sci degree an entry level job will pay a decent wage. Something you can live on. I dont know your situation but with a MCP you'll be lucky to get 15.00 an hr. Computers are fun and I do this as a hobby. Since almost every high school senior has a MCP the industry is saturated with IT people. So getting a degree would set you apart. Also for your certs the key is the practice tests. Imurse yourself in these and you will get your certs with no problem. Hope this helps you out.
