My daughter's computer runs XP Home. It came loaded in her pc so she didn't get a disk. If I buy Windows XP Pro, which she wants, is there any reason why it wouldn't work?

    None at all.

Beware of the pitfalls upgrading though; must be same service pack level on current OS and XP Pro CD, antivirus interferes, drivers can interfere, and so can burning applications.

Best practice is to clean install.

I was planning on doing a clean install, but with your advice, I just remembered, she also doesn't have the motherboard installation CD. I have one for mine. Without it, I'd have to check to see what she has, download drivers and put them on floppies. Her burner doesn't work. It looks like it'll be a lot to do and a lot of decisions to make and I'm not very experienced. I think I'll leave it alone and let her take it to a tech shop for the format and update.

    Thanks Adrynalyne.
