Have recently purchased a Windows 10 Home Edition, 64-bit. I am trying to download a screensaver but am not being successful.
INF install failure. Reason: Access is denied.
I have tried changing the permissions under the properties by clicking Security then Advanced.
    The name shows as C:Windows
    The owner shows as TrustedInstaller
When I change the name is does accept my name as the administrator, but when i click okay and return to the previous screen it shows the owner as a long series of numbers.
Needless to say I am at a loss.

Give us the exact link to the screensaver you are having trouble with

    It is not a link.
They are screensavers that I had been running on the Windows 7. One is a program, others are exe., others are drop in the Windows folder. No matter which one i use the result is the same. Access is denied. I know they are working as I uninstalled a few from the Windows 7 and then reinstalled just to make sure it wasn't a problem with the files.

Maybe THIS article will help, but whatever, stop tinkering with permissions in system folders before you damage your system.

No, that does not help. I am aware on how to use the screensaver settings. I am not a computer novice. Knowledge of how to change my screensaver does not help when I cannot install. What I need is to eliminate the access denied problem. I am also familiar with permissions in the system folder and have never run into an issue where it would not accept a change to the administrator. This brings me back to my original dilemma, how can I install or change permissions?

Following the instructions in the link you sent is exactly what I did before, and did again just now.
When I change the name is does accept my name as the administrator, but when I click okay and return to the previous screen it shows the owner as a long series of numbers. I am not sure what this series of numbers is as my name is not there. So I have not clicked okay on this. What is this series of numbers and why is my name not being accepted in this change?

As, with a quick change, I can quite easily step my system back and forth I'd be willing to have a go at this myself but I would need the file you are using of course. It may help, may not.
