    Hi,

I have a new laptop which I setup for a friend. I now want to change the user folder name from my friend's name to my name as I will be using the laptop. The user folder is located in c:\Users\<My Friend's name>. How do I do this?

    Thanks

I've looked around a little bit on this and the only advice I can find is to create a new user that you want, transfer files and settings from the old to the new, and then when you are satisfied with the new, delete the old.

Apparently the user names are attached to too many files/programs and there is not a way to universally change that.

At least that's what I found, I'm not saying this is the final on this, however. I've never had reason to do this.:wave:wave:wave

Maybe somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

    What brandypeppy said. :wave
I've heard horror stories of people changing names and then being locked out and the programs unusable. To me, it isn't worth the risk.
My husband is using a computer that I resuscitated from death. The username is the old owner. I haven't changed it because I don't want to risk breaking anything that works.
