So they are on their way over here for a US tour. Quotes from the BBC state "The couple are not thought to generate excitement in the US". They don't generate too much in the UK either ;).

The entourage they bring with them includes...

    Hairdresser
    Make-up artist
    Dresser
    Doctor
    Office PA
    Three travel organisers
    Camilla's asst private secretary
    Charles' asst private secretary
    Communications secretary
    Press officer
    Two valets
    Butler
    Equerry

Yeah, I had to look the last one up too :p Isn't this just excessive and a total waste of money??? I can understand them needing some support on the trip, but isn't Camilla old enough now to know how to do her hair, dress and put on her face? Thinking back to the Walmart thread....you can get wigs and masks there can't you ? ;)

Oh I do, but I also remember that they are visiting key sites of pain, suffering and depravation now.....Ground Zero, New Orleans, etc, and this seems extremely extravagant and in the face of people who struggle daily still for very basic needs. I guess that's my point....

Monarchy is an archaic from of government that was pretty much shot to hell when we...the newly formed United States of America tossed thier weak-a** tea in the harbor and said "Let`s see what you got!!!" It`s not that I don`t appreciate the future "king"(rotflmfao)and his "queen" trying to show that he really cares about a former colony that could smoke his whole country with the man power of a few states. I don`t much care for pretentious people. I`m not condemning the Brit`s as a people. I don`t care for phoney`s though. And if I offend anyone I sincerely apologise...I don`t view the future "king" as a fair representation of a noble people. I`ve met and made friends with many people from the UK...and in all honesty some of the best music I`ve ever heard came from there. And...the Queen is a classy woman and even though the whole "royalty" thing is stupid I respect her and what she`s meant to the UK and the rest of the rational world. Lemme cut to the chase...Charles is an ass...and I may be a bit generous at that. I do think that his(Diana`s boys too)have a really good chance to be good Monarchs(rotflmao)because they`re good kids and faithful to decency. I know that the throne is mostly a figurehead type of thing...but because they were born into a position does that make them any better than...say...a welder...or a carpenter...or a(another old world archaic term that`s out-dated by several hundred years) a game-keeper? Perhaps, being a veteran, and having been around the world, and seeing the disrespect heaped on fighting men from different countries I`m a bit jaded. On the other hand...being a veteran...and busting my ass to defend my country and any other ally...I don`t, no I can`t...see why a man that was pampered from the day he was born is any better than a man I crawled through the mud with in Korea or any other place making sure we were ready...not for nothing...while he was eating caviar and kidney pie(a MOST disgusting concoction)we were crawling through the mud and killing lice...well...to anyone from the UK...it ain`t you...but royalty??????? SPARE ME . NO SUCH THING

John...I can understand people that are very passionate in their beliefs, opinionated or whatever you want to call it but there is a time and place to express those views and this is not the forum for it. This is suppose to be a family friendly forum with respect and consideration shown to it's members, members from all over the world. Although you have made several posts with similar quotes as above, you have still succeeded in offending people despite your disclaimer. Your posts have been reported via report a post and via emails to me from those that know you are my brother, placing me in a rather awkward situation.

Please, please refrain from responding to political or religious threads. These are known to be highly inflammatory topics to begin with and despite the best intentions of those responding, they often get out of hand when posts are made by those that are so firm in their beliefs.

Apologizing in advance for comments made does not excuse the offensive comments.

I consider myself more fortunate than members of the royal family. Take the word "royal" out, as it is just a way of identifying the monarchy, and look at two different journeys of two different human beings.

I get to choose my vocation in life, Charles doesn't - he was born into it.

Whatever vocation I choose I can elect the form of training to carry out my role in society, Charles doesn't - he was born into it.

I get to choose how to exercise the passions for the things I have in life - Charles doesn't - he was born in to it.

I get to choose my life journey, Charles doesn't - he was born into it.

I get to do my thing privately without news coverage everyday, Charles doesn't - he was born into it.

It's not easy being a "royal"...it's not a choice. I don't feel a need to fight the system as I have more essential and valued basic human rights and freedom than ever a royal will have. I admire their ability to live the life they are born into, and not the one they choose. I certainly couldn't do it...... :)
