Chassis fan problems

Okay, so I just recently upgraded my graphics card to the Gigabyte GTX 770 4gb model. After installing, I had to move some wires around to maximize space for the card and unknowingly disconnected one of my hard drives. After reconnecting the HDD, I suddenly see a puff of smoke coming from one of my chassis fan connectors (this is the 3-pin/molex dual connector, so it can be connected either way). It was plugged into one of the 3 pin headers and started smoking near the molex piece (which isn't connected to anything). I went to unplug it after quickly shutting everything off and the whole wire was blazing hot to the touch--i.e. it actually burned me a bit. Now my PWM chassis fan, which was obviously on a different header now runs at max RPM suddenly, all following this little incident. I've tried changing settings in the BIOS, but I can no longer seem to control it and it is LOUD. In any case, I'm trying to get insight into what happened or at least a ballpark idea. I'm trying to figure out if I somehow fried the headers and PWM controller or just the fan itself. FWIW, the CPU fan works fine and ramps up/down as usual. Overall, though, everything seems stable, even under load--it's just a lot louder than it was. So now for some specifics:

Chassis fans are: a Silenx Effizio 80mm 3-pin--the one that fried and total junk
Cougar CF V12H 120mm PWM fan--now uncontrollable at full RPM

    Other specs:
Large HP ATX case (somewhere between full and mid in overall size)
OCZ 750w PSU (not the best brand, I know)
    ASUS P8P67 motherboard
i7-2600K, currently clocked at default speeds
    Cooler Master Hyper 212+ w/ 2 fans
    Gigabyte GTX 770 4gb

I guess I'm also trying to find out if just the fans should be replaced (I have to replace the 80mm, since it is dead) or the PSU. Hopefully the motherboard headers themselves are still ok... Please let me know if any more info will help.

    Thanks
