Lets say you have PC that has a hosed Windows and it doesn't boot to the desktop. Lets say you hook up the drive as a secondary drive on a healthy PC. Is there a way to use something like IE History Viewer or Computer History Viewer on the secondary drive to see what sites were visited, what's in the histories (including MRUs), what's in cahces, etc.? I have PC here that was fixed 2 months ago (clean WinXP install), and the owner claims to have done nothing other than turn it on occasionally (yeah, RIGHT!!). I've already booted to PE and looked at some index files showing he's been to facebook, craigslist, etc, but the index files are more-or-less garbled when opened in Notepad. I'd like to be able to show clean, clear lists of the history.

    Thanks!

IE History Viewer and Mozilla History Viewer both have the facility to open a history folder or file, as do the Cache Viewers (all Nirsoft utils). For registry entries, Regedit > load hives.

From what I can tell, IEHV will ask where the history file is, as in which user profile, but it does not allow you to select a drive letter. Even if IEHV is moved to the root of the drive in question, it still scans profiles on drive C: only (or so it would appear - maybe I'm missing something? :-o )

IEHV > File > Select History folder > Browse > navigate to X:\Documents and Settings\User name\Local Settings\History does it for me.
