Checksum error?

I just installed a brand new mother board and processor and reformatted my hard drive and everything's working fine except for when the computer boots up it says "CMOS checksum error- Defaults loaded". Then it gives me the choice of either hitting F1 to continue or Delete to go to setup and I can just hit F1 and it will run fine but then everytime I turn it off or restart it I have to clear the CMOS. Can someone tell me what the problem may be and how I could fix it? Thanks.

Possible corrupt CMOS, weak battery, Bad Bios chip??

 

Have you gone into BIOS and set it up? If not when you do and save settings the checksum error should go away. Read the book that came with the motherboard it will havee a lot of information on setting up the bios.

 

My buddy just built an amd 64 2800+ and Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M same problem exactly.
He put it in a compaq case would that have any conflicts?
Monkmnky did you ever find out what caused that?
Prob try the battery tomorrow sounds like a simple fix.
