I've looked through the old posts about monitoring children's activities on a computer and wanted to find out if anyone had suggestions for more recent software. The only posts I can find are several years old.

We have the kids' computer in a common room, watch what they do, etc., but the kids need to use the computer much more these days for homework, school research, projects, etc. I can't sit behind them every single second.

I'm going to be open with my kids and tell them the software will be on the computer. Like most kids, if they know they're being monitored, both physically by us or through the software when we can't, they'll be less likely to do things they know they're not supposed to do. I'm not looking for this to be a spy tool, instead just another layer of protection.

Your software suggestions will be very much appreciated. As always, free is best! :)
