alright i got my chipset fan installed a few weeks ago and i have had it unplugged the entire time becase it sounds like something is jammed in between the blades of the fan when i turn it on. I looked it over and there are no wires hitting the blades, and if it was something loose it should come out when i crank the sucker up to its highest speed. I think that the fan blades are hitting the fan housing but im not sure. The fan is a thermaltake Extreme Spirit... I would like to get this going so i can start seeing how much heat my system is going to produce overclocked, but i definately want this fan going before i do that.

take a flashlight and shine into it when you turn it on. if you see the blades hitting the housing, or even if you see it wobble, you should get a new fan and replace it. if it looks good, maybe you might need a dab of motor oil in the bearings. just take the sticker off the hub and put ONE DROP of motor oil in the hub. any more and you'll have a motor oil sprinkler in your hands.

i fixed it :) it turns out that the fan was hitting the heatsink somehow... i just adjusted it on the heatsink a little and its working fine now :)
    thanks
