    CatT I can't follow the rules

    in the course of DLing some rather dodgy material, i got a file ChrExt.rar, size 1k.

    i am used to junk like this and just ignore/delete it. but this one has my curiosity in terms of what the NAME means.

    google is not helpful. a bunch of hits imply "Chrome Extension" -- a legitimate file? -- and then a bunch of Charlie Laine porno vids. No OTHER porno clips, just Charlie Laine...which leads me to wonder wither this "Chr" refers, rather, to HER NAME somehow.

    i expected pages and pages of VIRUS sites, but this doesn't seem to be the case. so i guess the file is safe...for SOMETHING.

    can someone who is more familiar with these things tell me what exactly i'm looking at here?

    well, for starters, you could mention whether you are also getting "charlie laine" throughout your google results. or whether google is somehow skewing my own results locally (i HAVE searched on ms laine before).

    you could also tell me whether "ChrExt" shows up on any sort of "beware!" list.

    i'm not seeing it, but then again, i'm no eggspurt at this.

    I have never seen it, but it does google to Charlie Lane. There is no master :"beware" list.

    If you think you have malware, then you need to follow Kes's instructions. We can't speculate on what or where it came from.

    Yep, like I said, You could follow my procedures and then we can organise a way for me to view the file. Just checking google does nothing really. Nothing sure fire.
