A true Christmas ghost story

This is a true story, a 15th centaury in Lancashire containing some very valuable silver and purported to be haunted, was the subject of a rather strange burglary, The spirit that inhabited the old manor house took the form of a Franciscan monk, this particular burglar knew of the story, so he dressed himself in a suitable costume and forced entry to the old house, (honestly this is true, in fact its on record in the local police archives) this inventive criminal dress in his monks habit was making his way down the long gallery towards the room where the valuables were kept, when, he sees the ghostly shape of a Franciscan monk floating towards him, panics and runs headlong from the building and into the arms of the local constabulary
