Christmas in July

errr...June! So I was reading about this train tour that Disney is doing for the movie A Christmas Carol. I know it's only June but it's hitting 44 cities before the movie comes out this winter so I guess they had to start early. You get the preview the movie, create a digital character of yourself, check out the motion-capture production stage. And listen to Christmas carolers, lol. Sounds like a pretty cool promo...you guys gonna check it out?

 

You know what? A Christmas Carol is an English story, written by an Englishman. Therefore, Disney owes it to us Brits to do this promo tour in the UK, too.
Looks good though. I love A Christmas Carol, especially the version with Alistair Sim, which they completely ruined by adding false colour. Tish and pish.

 

Ah! Fair point - maybe they will do a similar European promo! They already brought Christmas to Cannes when they previewed some clips from the film last month.

Christmas Carol is also one of my most favorite Christmas stories of all time - I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching it. The Muppets version is probably my favorite so far. This one looks really cool - love the look of it so far and I think the use of mo-cap gives the movie a totally different feel. Should be visually interesting to watch, at the very least!

 

Yeah, it sounds pretty cool.

 

LIGHT THE LAMP, NOT THE RAT!!! One of my favourites, also. Watched it over and over when the kids were young. A great excuse to watch a kid's movie. Watch it with them.
The funniest version I've seen is Blackadder's Christmas Carol. A completely different take on the story, but a joy to watch.

 

I'm glad I'm not the only Muppets fan on here! I don't even need to watch it w/ kids, haha. The story of A Christmas Carol transcends all ages, though, and I just love seeing all the different versions and takes on it. The Muppets one, kid friendly for sure and Scrooge with Bill Murray - another different take on it. I'm actually pretty interested to see Jim Carrey play Scrooge - think he might have potential to pull off a pretty amazing performance.

 

I think we are all Muppet fans, if the truth be known! :-D I haven't met anyone who wasn't one Yes, it does sound like a good one to see.

Giving this thread a major bump because I saw the trailer in the theater and WOW! It looks pretty amazing - very different from previous versions I remember, and looks pretty darn close to the book. Has anyone else checked out the trailer?? I officially can't wait.
