Hi folks, i can't get chrome to work like it does when it's first installed, the screen keeps showing the Omnibox (as seen below) but when i type into that search box it shows at the very top of the screen as shown.

I also keep getting a message saying your preferences can't be read and i have reset chrome to no avail.

    Thanks for any help

Your picture is cut at the top so I would assume that's the reason for 0 replies.

That's the new Google new tab window, I noticed it too after the latest update, it's not an error if that's what your worried about though and your search results will be the same if google is set as your search provider.

Type this into the address field or the 'Google chrome omnibox:-D

    chrome://flags/

Disable - "Enable Instant Extended API"

EDIT In settings set On startup to a specific set of pages and choose google.com or google.co.uk wherever you are.

Not my fix and you still have to hit homepage or google search.
