    Hello,

Long time forum browser/user but first time needing to post here for help.

Short Story: Father came to visit a brought his computer that he said had been slow for months. His Account was unusable on the computer, but another Admin account I had created when he bought it was able to be usable. Started with AVG .. found a ton of PUPs and PUHs + a trojan, can't remember which one. SpyBot found a few things and repaired them, then on to Malware Bytes which found Cidox.b root kit. The battle began. Though it was all cleaned up, and then trojans and other PUPs were still popping into the system. Obviously something pretty nasty got in and thought to bring friends to the party.

So after repairing a bunch of thing in Safe mode I am now able to finally run all the tools from the READ ME FIRST in normal windows under his account.

The logs seem to still show some remnants of the malware/virus but everything is at least back up to an acceptable speed.

I have attached the requested logs for review and help.

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Kart

Looks like you did a pretty good job of removing the malware. Just a few things to do.'

Rerun RogueKiller and have it fix this item:
    Code:
    ¤¤¤ Tasks : 2 ¤¤¤
    [Suspicious.Path] \\lawndyj -- C:\Users\Frank\AppData\Local\Temp\ndduiuh.exe -> Found
Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :files
    C:\Windows\system32\tasks\lawndyj

    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{110a9ea2-8810-4c04-b916-cfd4e9427fec}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{2fa28606-de77-4029-af96-b231e3b8f827}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{2fa28606-de77-4029-af96-b231e3b8f827}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{38049E41-840B-4CAB-A414-9846E7A7E116}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{b7fca997-d0fb-4fe0-8afd-255e89cf9671}]

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]

    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach this log file to your next message.

Be sure to tell me how things are running.

    TimW,

    Thank you for your assistance.

Attached are the logs required. Please see the OTM-Note.

The System has a few hiccups after the OTM run and is slightly more sluggish then it was before the OTM script.

Also I was looking around the system and it appears there are still multiple Adware running around in the $User/AppData/Local and LocalLow directories

Things that stick out are the directories for
    Kjs.AppLife.Update, Conduit, FreePriceAlerts, ShopAtHome

Maybe Move/Rename/Delete after all the tools are finished ?

Please run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Attach the new C:\MGLogs.zip

Please make sure msconfig is set to normal startup.

Rerun Hitman and have it fix everything except this item:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mfc45.dat

Then copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Reboot and rescan with Hitman and attach the new log.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Attach the new C:\MGLogs.zip.

Tell me how things are running now.

    ask.com
    C:\Users\Frank\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Web Data

If everything is running well I will give you the final clean up instructions.

    Here ya go:

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
