who's seen this movie? I thoroughly enjoyed it... finding out it was based on a true story at the end made it all the more better...

Never say that...Most of the movies I've seen in subtitles are some of the best movies I've ever seen. :) [edit] And I know you were just giving a heads-up Midget, didn't mean to make it sound like YOU were turned off by subtitles...but just a general hint to everyone. It's sad to know people won't watch a movie cause it has subtitles.

I've heard rave reviews about City of God (aka Cidade de Deus)...it's a movie set in Brazil, starring Seu Jorge, the guy in Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (amazing movie). He was the Brazilian guy who sang all the David Bowie songs translated into Portuguese. He's a fabulous musician, and a fabulous actor as well.

    More info about it:

I've never seen it but am dying to. I haven't been to Blockbuster in a while...so unlike me! I'll pick it up the next time I go.

I still haven't seen "Stalingrad" (by the director of "Das Boot") because I can't find the subtitled version. I refuse to watch the dubbed version.

I recently saw the subtitled version of "Downfall", about Hitler's last days in the bunker. It would have been totally ruined to hear him ranting on in english while his mouth was speaking german.

i thought it was so well directed... i love the time jumps, the flashbacks, the explanations as to how everything came to be the way it was... the camera shots were amazing... they were random, discrete angles that made you feel like you were a bystander to all that was going on (no real up close face shots on people as they often do in movies)... i don't watch alot of movies but i'm always pleased to come across ones like this...

whoops... i wrote that with the contention that you saw it already... let me know what you think after u watch it =]

That's awesome Midget, it's cool to hear something like that, other than just "oh yea, the movie rocked, cause it was so kewllll!" Of course, probably the most important part is how you felt about the movie as a whole, but then it's great to delve into the detailed and technical parts of the movie to see how it gave that effect. :)
