Clarification on "READ & RUN ME FIRST" thread?

I referred my daughter to your wonderfully helpful site, but I'm a little confused. I used the "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide" thread info in November, and the thread actually was updated while I was in the process of following the instructions. I'm pretty sure the previous thread included instructions to run at least some of the software in safe mode, but the updated thread does not include these instructions.

I just want to double-check: is it necessary (or advisable) to run the downloaded programs in safe mode, or is that no longer necessary?

Thank you so much for all your time and efforts!

Yes the older procedure did have certain steps run in safe boot mode. As you noticed, we have changed the READ & RUN ME quite dramatically. It is much simplier and much faster to run now. And no you do not have to run anything in safe mode. If however you could not run the steps in normal boot mode due to the kind of malware infections you have then we probably would ask you to try running steps in safe mode in an attempt to getting around the malware.
