I just did a clean install on my c:drive, format NTFS.
I only created 2 accounts when asked, one admin, one michael.
It seemed to have remembered the previous name of the account before the reinstall.
    Is that possible?
Because I don't remember ever typing in my previous users name into this new install.
    Using, Windows XP Professional.

If anything is there after a format you apparently didnt format because a format completely wipes the partition.

Actually, I watched, it format, the full NTFS way.
It's odd that it left the previous persons folder named after him, in the c-documents/settings-name-folder.
Is there any way to check exactly if something perhaps did go wrong?
    Which I'm 99% positive it didn't.

If you want it clean, I would remove the partition completely, create a new one and then format using NTFS then install.

If there is something still remaining on the drive, it's apparent something went wrong because when you format it wipes the partition clean.

Are you sure the formatted partition was the same partition you installed Windows on?

Yes, 110%, I removed my other drive which is part., into 3 parts (removed IDE cable and unplugged power from it).
Left only my 40gig drive to format.
I think I figured out what it might have been.
I had my FireFox backed up, then when I reinstalled the backups through the program, all my settings were also placed onto the browser.
So the settings essentially maybe forced the, "downloads" part of the browser to create the path to my previous user names directory where my current profile is, meaning c:documents and settings/michael(previous user name on computerr)/desktop/downloads (folder)
previous setup was the same, minus the name change, that's it.

Yeah, that could be a possible reason.
