    hello

here i am again asking for your opinions.

1- software to remove files, for example, cookies, typed things, temp files, etc wich do you recommend, wich is the one who finds more files? i wanted something that would also let me choose files\folders wich i want, evidence eliminator did all that but everyone talks bad about it, it cleared lots of other software files...

2- memory cleanup, now that i use windows 98 se again i think i need one of those memory clean up, wich do you recommend?

3- still looking for a software to lock my computer, something that will ask for a password right when windows starts and that lets me lock the computer at any time

4- other than virus what other [bad things] should i fear... like spyware, bots, etc... what other software should i get to remove them?

5- anyone knows a good registry cleaner, fixer?

6- is there any banner, pop-up blocker wich wont mess up with websites that is worth it?

i think that is all for now hehehe
    thank you

    bye

A nice piece of software for removing cookies, typed things, temp. files. and lots of other things. Have used it for a number of months with good results. Requires a restart after using. When first installed, should be run 2-3 times to do a good cleaning. Price is right---Free

System mechanic is a very good All In One. It'll do everything you want except lock you computer.

It does have a spyware killer, but I would suggest adaware, and spybot be used instead.

Actually if you were to look hard, and ask, there are free standalone programs that work well.

    Hd_Cleaner. Free, works well.

Buying more memory. That said, people seem to like FreeRam XP PRo: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1670.html
If you want to manage your cache better (a good idea with 98) you cant beat Cacheman: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download308.html

3- still looking for a software to lock my computer, something that will ask for a password right when windows starts and that lets me lock the computer at any time

Ill have to refer to the experts, not one are I am real familiar with.

4- other than virus what other [bad things] should i fear... like spyware, bots, etc... what other software should i get to remove them?

Ad-Aware or Spybot are free and the best out there.

6- anyone knows a good registry cleaner, fixer?

    RegCleaner:

Few choices if you like IE. Avant Browser or MyIE2.

Or, go to http://toolbar.google.com and use their free toolbar with popup blocking.

i think that is all for now hehehe
    thank you

    hello

    thank you for your replays.

1- still looking, does anyone know the problem with evidence eliminator? it did everything! hdcleaner does a good job! the problem is that i wanted something that would clean everything at the same time and also when the system starts or shuts down. sorry but system security suite doesn't clean as many things as i want.

2- also still looking, there are man, maybe other people want to replay

3- hehe no one knows any?

4- what should i use then, spybot or adaware or other? and is there anything else to fear if i have a anti-virus other than spyware ,etc.

5- if anyone wants to talk about this... maybe it is better to live like this... hehe

6- now i use regcleaner, if anyone knows a better one...

    thanks again

    bye

    1. Junk Cleaner.

There seem to be zillions of utilities here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=12

However I use MRU Blaster: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/mrublaster.html couldn't see it here at MG. This has cookie and IE temporary file cleaners as well and is from the same person who made Spyware Blaster.

    2. Memory Manager

Tried both Cacheman and Fast Defrag

    3. Computer Lock

Have you tried a hardware locking device, e.g., an external key to power on your PC, or for example: http://www.securitykit.com/pc_security_kits.htm

    4. Spyware

I have both Ad Aware and SpyBot Search and Destroy but also have Spyware Blaster. The latter seems to make the other two somewhat redundant.

    5. Reg Cleaner

Reg Supreme is good but I don't think it is free.

    6. Pop-up Blocker

I use the options available from the tools in 4.
