Cleaned up a mess

My computer mangaged to get infected with a variety of problems, Virus Heat, PC-Antispyware and Security Toolbar 7.1. I followed all of you clean up instructions for cleaning XP. I did have one problem, in that the ComboFix started running before I typed in the line I was supposed to. That said, after running all of the various programs, my computer appears to be running normally, for that I thank you. One issue that did come up in this process is that when I go to the Start/All Programs....most of my programs are no longer listed there. Any ideas on how to get the list of installed programs back in the All Program section?

    Thanks

    Steve

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

That probably means that you selected to Open or Run it rather than downloading it and saving it to your Desktop. Try again and make sure that you download/save the file to your Desktop and rename it to cf.exe as requested.

Please attach all of the requested logs so we can see what was found and removed and what remains. This may not be a malware issue.

Please do not turn text file logs into Word documents. They are way too large, they corrupt the formatting, and thus it takes longer to read them. The logs should be attached as .txt files.

The scanners appear to have removed your real malware issues. There really is no malware reason for the problem with your Start/ All Programs listing being missing. The only item remaining that may be malware is the below folder. Do you know what it is for? What is in this folder?
    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
    EVUPMLYR Apr 13 2008 "evupmlyr"
It may be best if you try using System Restore to go back to a point in time before your problem with All Programs began.

I have no idea what that file is associated with. As to the system restore..that seems to have gone missing also. I go into All Programs/ Accessories and the only option listed there is Internet Explorer (no plug in)

Again thanks for you help so far.

But what is in the folder?

Then you are going to have to reinstall things to get the back or try copying things from another user account that may still have them listed properly. This is an issue that you need to work in the Software Forum. You also should determine what you problem is with System Restore in the Software Forum too.

I checked and there is nothing in that folder at all.

Okay then I suggest that you delete it since it is similar to what some malware programs create.
