    Hello:

Can you please list the appropriate steps to clean out your system (hardware)?

I like to clean out my system every 6 months and it runs like new because I keep up this regimine.

I use a can of air (ground myself) and blow out the air of the power supply, CPU fan and the general area inside. I also wipe down the outside case with a simple dust cloth. Clean the keyboard and monitor. I also check the cords in the back for dust, etc.

    Any other tips?

    Thanks

If you get a very soft paint brush that helps to loosen most of the accumulated dust the canned air misses. I also sometimes if possible remove the fan from the heatsink and brush out the fins as a fair amount of dust accumulated in there.

Also not knowing your case and fan arrangement but if you "can" at the front of the case and "if" it has air intake fins and fan... use some cut up stocking material to cover the air intake grill/slots as that will help stop some dust entering your case adn is easily changable ( note only use this method if their is space and th ematerial won't interfear with any moving parts eg. fan fins )
