Cleaning Software

Can anybody recommend simple, stand alone program, to safely and securely delete and overwrite complete folders (with or without files in it) rather then only individual files. Preferably free.

Spybot does only files, HD Cleaner is OK but keeps expiring (not a big deal if you have connection to the internet at the time) and my old Norton System Works dinosaur which has a nice “Wipe Info” utility will not longer load on XP SP2.
