cleanup help

I am a computer novice selling my computer to get a new one and wanted to know the best way to clean it up. TY

 

I found the best way is to use a can of compressed gas and have a vacuum cleaner hose near the system. It's the cleanest way to go IMO. Make sure you unplug it first and don't touch the components with the hose.

 

and as long as all you are looking to clean up are the dust hordes that have taken up camp in there augie is spot on... if you happen to mean the other kind of clean up i.e. sensitive info and the like, the easyest way is to just wipe the harddrive and sell as is, or wipe it and install w/ a fresh os load

 

how do you wipe the hard drive?

 

Format it. Visit your hard drive maker's web site. Most of the big drive companies have a free utility that you can download to make a bootable CD or floppy. When booted to, you can use the tools provided to wipe the drive; a low level format is best to completely erase everything. Or you can create yourself the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD).
