Cleanup of Windows 98 OS Junk for friend

I have a friend who is a little behind in her operating system, Windows 98. I have been able to determine that she has a lot of trojan horses, malware, and whatever there is and her computer is very slow. My tools (Vista) do not work for her system. What can I download to clean up her system disk. I did persuade her to reduce the number of e-mails she had saved from 8,000 to 800 and now at least her e-mail program works. We're starting from there, but 98 is so far back that I don't remember a thing. I would be most grateful for some help.

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
