Clickable links in Thunderbird

    I have Thunderbird and Mozilla.

Have not had any problems clicking on a link in an e-mail and having a page open right up in my browser until a couple of weeks ago.

I did a search and found this:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25967

    which said to do this:

    start > run >regsvr32.exe urlmon.dll
    Click OK

This may be needed to be done as well:

    start> run >regsvr32.exe mshtml.dll
    Click OK

When I did the first .dll is "registered".

When I did the second I got the box that I am attaching.

I still cannot open a link even though the first worked.

Is there something else to do? I can't figure out why it would just stop. I have looked at settings, etc. in Thunderbird and - unless I missed something obvious - there isn't anything there to check or uncheck for this.

I can click on links on other web pages and be taken to a different web page - so it works once the browser is open if that's helpful info. Also, in hotmail e-mails (which of course is in my open browser, I can click on a link and open another page).

This got to page 5 so I decided to bump it.

    Is this not fixable?

I was always able to do this - what changed?

The Mozilla pages seem to attribute the problem to the OS not knowing which browser is the default. In other words it is not a Thunderbird problem but an XP problem.

Look at this page and try a few steps to reset your default browser:

Same problem with TB here. Solution offered above worked.

    Thanks - this worked.

I knew it had to be some setting. Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox have been my default programs...but when my pc restarts sometimes it likes to mess with settings.

    Thank you very much.
