ClickClick-boom

MMmm. There is a click click in my PC tower( 2003 Xp). The system will boot up and displays a index with specs on it. I cannot go past this . If I reach around back and force shut down i can reboot and sometimes it will temporarly co-operate for a few minutes until the clicking starts. My lovely wife instead of drop down menu shut down chose to force a shut down by pressing front power button down. I always use menu. I speculate a program was running and now system is confused. Is this an XP -Mac grey screen of death senario? StucK HD ?? Egads. Thanks David

 

Sounds like a dying hard drive. Move it to another machine as a slave to pull off any important stuff if you can. Do not try restarting your machine, it'll just get worse until it gives up the ghost.

EDIT: Time to get a new machine me thinks.
