Close down

I seem to have installed a program that is running a process in the background that I'm un-aware of.
When I come to shut the computer down I get the 'End Process now / cancel' splash screen for something called WMS IDLE.
This is now occuring at everyshut down, can someone help me out please

thank you for the quick response I've looked where you directed me but I'm not running Microsoft Office Communicator.
any other ideas?

 

What programs are you running...like Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Office, MSN Messenger, any Norton/Symantec products too?

 

I have MSN messenger but i always close it down before shut down
using task manager i have a 'System Idle Process' running at CPU 98 and using 28k of memory

 

Try this:

START > RUN and type in the pop up window services.msc . Click on Messenger and select STOP in the top left if it's running. Then change the startup type to DISABLED by double clicking on Messenger and changing the Startup Type in the pop up window. Reboot.

Let me know if that does it or not.....

 

Thanks for all the advice, traced the problem to the Nero essentials I installed with my new dvd burner.
Removed Nero and a smooth uncomplicated shutdown
