I have a Hotmail account which has Sky Drive. It allows up to 7.5 Gb space.

How can I use Acronis to back my system image to it instead of, or along with, my usb drives.

You can't I'm afraid. Acronis can store backups on local drives and your local network. Externally, for files up to 2GB, it can use ftp servers but Hotmail does not allow ftp connections. Anyway a system backup will well exceed 7.5GB and the time to upload, if it were possible, would be measured in days.

Acronis offer online storage but to have a meaningful allocation I believe you have to pay. And the time problem would still be there.

My images are about 6Gb so I could use the cloud as far as space goes but I was not aware of the upload time.
I have other cloud accounts ; another with hotmail and one with Google+.
This ends my search for a location to backup to other than the usb drives. Once I tried to create folder on each of the 2 external drives so I would have an image of each pc on each of the 2 usb drives but I got that confused.
My thinking was, if one drive died, the other would have both images.
Again it hs been enjoyable learning lmitations, and misconceptions. :wave

6GB! You must tell me your secret! I've just set up a Win 7 32 bit system and that, with only my personal software installations, i.e. no personal files at all, comes in at 10 GB. My Win 7 64 bit system, which I have removed but still have an image of, was 16GB, again with no personal files at all.

I bought a 1TB NAS drive intending to use that for my system backups but it is unbelievably slow. To complete a backup to it I have to leave everything running overnight!

I have 2 Wd usb drives with firewire and esata.
One is 2T and the other is 1T.
The image for the laptop is around 6 GB and the desk top only a bit more.
They both take about 12 minutes to image and the same for verification.
Both pcs have the same software content, Win 7 and some data with quite a few programs.
One is a terabyte and the other 650 GB.

Are you using high compression then?

I checked Acronis and clicked options; the default is 'normal' which I don't change.
