CNY Geeks... need help!!!

Well.... it hit the fan....

I'm working again, but the city came in to inspect the property we live on and has deemed it unfit. Likely we have to be out in a couple weeks at most.

Trying to find a decently priced 2 bedroom apt in Syracuse that accepts dogs without a huge extra cost. Rent to own is definately in the list, and we would love to be on Solvay Electric, but at this point we aren't going to be overly picky as we need a place quick.

Figured tapping the network is the best chance to locate something that may be off the radar.

I don't know much about inspections and things of that nature, but it seems like something you might be able to get a second opinion on. The city might not like that however..

I had a friend who owned land that the city wanted to put a water tower on, next to her house, and they offered her $100,000 for it, she declined, they tried fighting in court for it and lost.. Then they condemned and siezed the land.. To add injury to the insult of not having to pay her for it, they added a nice big radio tower.. next to her house..

Are you renting the land?

 

No... we rent an apartment in a house that is basically a 3 apartment building. The city's concerns are that there are problems that the landlord has not fixed that are health hazards.

That is the biggest issue, but now the landlord is also trying to evict because we went to the city.

Seems like as soon as I get a leg up, the ledge crumbles out from underneath me. Still not smoking.... though this past week has beena little more difficult.

Still haven't gained weight either.

AM hoping we can work something out with my credit union who also does Fannie Mae loans and maybe even get a home. I know, sounds crazy, but I was looking at a smaller place that would work for us, and think we might be able to get it for about 40grand. is in good shape, just small. But, it's a start.

Will keep in touch. If anyone happens to know anyone that is looking for a renter/buyer who is willing to be a little flexible, let me know

Know what you mean lived that life too. With me having children back in the 60's no one would rent to you, Had to live in dumps til we bought a house.

Doesn't sound crazy at all, now is the time to do just that. Just don't get sucked into something you won't be able to keep up the payments on. Thats why so many are in foreclosure now.
But go for it and good luck to you. Small is a start, at least the money you pay remains your and doesn't go to some landlord.
