cod 4 1.6 patch problem

First let introduce myself, I have been playing online games for over 7years now and go by the name of *LES*Numb_nuts on cod4. :cool

I have recently installed anew mother board to my PC, and when reinstalling the game I have come across a problem. . . . . :cry

I am installing the patches fine until I get to install 1.6 (the big one) then message... you already have it installed hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I have tried un-installing the game and all files connected with the game and I have also ran uninstall pro to remove hkfiles and anything to do with the darn game Lol' :-D

Any advice to resolve this would be very grateful as I cannot get to 1.7 to play in this seasons L.C.S.L Sniper league.

If you are patching one by one this is probably why you are getting the error.
Patch 1.6 contains all previous patches, hence the size.
You fresh install COD4 and first thing you do is patch using 1.6.

Because you are installing previos patches it could be regestering as content you already have.

So try a fresh install, then update direct to 1.6 then to 1.7.

Obviously this is a theory but I can't see ny other reason unless you have the GOTY edition that cme preloaded with 1.6.

When you uninstall you need to clean out the registry of all COD4 files, back up your saves before you start.

What OS are you on, and is this a retail copy or a digital?

 

Hi Minsy cheers for your question, am on windows7 but its a blag copy. I am thinking of over writing it with vista again to clear all traces of cod4 . . . .

 

Games not made for 7 install way better on that OS if you right-click the setup file and run them "as Administrator", it may be worth your while to try that out. Repeat that process with the patches as well, see if that works.
