    Fellow Posters,
Like Nedlamar, I too have fallen foul of the game's specs, having failed the CYRI test due to my CPU.
I have a Pentium Dual Core E5300 with which the last CoD worked fine as apparently will the new Medal of Honor.
Nevertheless, being the sort of person who religiously updates programmes without really knowing why (I also trust doctors!) I have ordered an Intel Core 2 Due E6700 only on the basis that otherwise I won't go to Heaven (I was educated by Jesuits).
Just this once though I will ask a question or 2 i.e. will I notice a great improvement in the performance of my other games (Ghost Recon series, Far Cry2 and CoD MW) or will this simply allow CoD Black Ops to play at all?.
    Thanks.
    Cozzielex

It depends on the rest of your system, yes you will notice a difference but likely not a huge amount in those games, more CPU intensive games like Total War or C&C would make the biggest difference, but like I said it all depends on what Graphics, Ram you have.

Try the patch though, you might already notice the difference, IMO Treyarchs min specs was exagerated, my CPU is below it and since the patch I can run it at about 75% quality with good frames rates for the most part :)

Further to my last post on this topic, I ordered and had installed a Pentium Dual Core CPU E6800 @ 3.33GHz, mistakenly thinking that this would be sufficient to play the game; CYRI told me I needed a minimum Intel Core Duo 2 E6600 and I clearly got mixed up and was following the 'E' number.
CYRI still tells me my CPU fails and I now am stuck with this CPU having paid £100 for it. I can't exchange it or get my money back as it was my error.
Can anyone tell me if I will be able to play CoD Black Ops single player at all with this CPU (everything else passes OK)

re this last post I have spoken again to the dealer who supplied my with the new CPU and he tells me that Pentium Dual Core and Intel core duo 2 are the same; Is this correct?

If the game calls for a Core 2 Duo, then it's unfortunately going to have difficulties running on anything less than that.

There is no Core 2 Duo E6800 processor from Intel, not that I know of anyway. I know there is an E6850, because I had that in my gaming PC for a couple of years (rest in peace, 6850, you were a loyal friend), and the Core 2 Duo is not the same as a Pentium Dual Core.

Here, if that link works you can see the specs of the E6850 and the E6800 side by side. As you can see, there are clear differences. Maybe if you show him a print-out of that comparison he'll agree to exchange since the part you bought wasn't clearly described and as a result you accidentally bought something that doesn't actually do what you need it to do.

And that sucks by the way, and I deeply sympathize. I hope you find a solution.
