This is kind of long so stick with me:)
I had a lightning strike that came in the phone line, took out the mother board and modem
old board was a biostarTA770 A2+new board is ASUS M3A78 both with 770 chip set
I am running an AMD windsor 6000 dual core processor cooler master 500 PSU
2 gigs OZC memory and a visionTeck HD 3870 graphics card
I'm running XP, after installing the new board I did not do a fresh install of windows but all seemed to install fine, but I got a error for the onboard sound
so I put a sound blaster card I had in and all seemed worked well
When I play COD WaW I can play a few minutes and then it starts to stutter and the sound gets garbled for about 30-40 seconds then goes normal again for a few minutes and then repeats the same thing?
By the way I had an ASUS 9500 TOP graphics card in there and it did the same thing
All temps on card and processor are normal
I read somewhere it might be a sound card problem?
    Any help would be great

    HI

What yellow ! marks if any do you have in Device Manager?

While a clean install would have been preferable, you maybe able to get this to work without error, what i would do ist to delete the Audio driver and then install the chipset driver from ASUS for your mobo as its a AMD 790GX/SB750 over the Biostars AMD 770/SB600, then reboot and install the Audio driver (depending on what Service Pack you have you may also need the Microsoft UAA driver)

Thanks, I'll give this a try, by the wat I have the ASUS M3A78 770 not the
ASUS M3A78 T 790 chipset, don't know if that matters
I tried loading the driver from the disk and thats when I got the error "can't find HD adio device"
    I'll try your suggestions though:)

    Hi

In that case the chipset I mentioned wont work, just didnt come across a 770 based baord when I looked, must have not looked close enough.

But do give the re-install of the M3A78 chipset and audio a go again (but get from ASUS download site as it "maybe" newer than the supplied one), do remember to reboot after installing the chipset and make sure you updgrade windows XP too.

ps. one hell of a chipset download that mobo has 477.47 (MBytes)!!!

  5. A lightning strike in your phone line are you sure all the cables are hunky dorey? Might be a bad cable distorting the signal?

Is it when you play online or offline?

If you play a movie does it do the same thing? Or is it just this game?
