I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I just thought this is the closest to a codec related question.

2 hours ago, my PC is working fine. The audio and video codecs are properly installed and working perfectly.

But stupid me, didnt heed the "dont fix it if it aint broken" saying... I installed some codecs and end up messing up EVERYTHING. Now my video files look so bad.. you can actually see the pixels. No sound will come out either. My speaker is fine as it's making some "windows" noise.. but music, movies, etc will have no sound with bad video.

I'm trying to remove my pc of every single codec so I can restart a new. How do I do this?

And after clearing up, what codecs do you guys recommend?

I'd do a system restore - much easier.

    I presume it's windows xp?

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Go back to a time before you installed these codecs, and it should sort it.
Anything you've installed after you installed these codecs will be gone too.

    Your documents won't be affected.

You'll find that generally a Sytem Restore can fix a lot of errors you stumble upon. :)
