combination of antivirus xp 208 and win32

This is not on my computer but a friends computer she has xp home edition, HP, athalon processor (dont know the speed). She had her puter in storage for almost a year and when she moved she set it up. The antivirus was not updated. She went online to download her Norton renewal and it wouldn't download. She also went to a web site to buy posters (think that's where she got it). It was ok, until the next day when she turned it back on. Then the anti virus2008 xp covers the desktop and isn't moveable. It kept running and showing she had 1150 viruses win32 including 2008 xp virus itself. I could get to Norton site but it wouldn't download. It wont let me download anything. I tried to follow the procedures on google but that was a total loss. Itt also won't let me delete, uninstall or install. It shows the xp virus in control panel, but has disabled any kind of removal. She has norton antivirus,(old), CC cleaner, Adaware and zone alarm. Should I try to uninstall adaware? I read the instructions so know I need cc cleaner. Once the browser is open, its not a reg one.

First question: Which do I try to do first xp virus or win32 after I follow your malware instructions?
Second questions: If I can't download the stuff I need to follow your instructions, what do I do.
Third question: How do I go into safemode. I thought it was F1, but it didn't work.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
