Combofix destroyed my Word files

I used Combofix only to find out that all my Word documents, several hundred of them, had been converted to rtf format. Naturally, I am quite upset about this. Is there way I can change them all back to Microsoft word format at the same time?

I'm sorry but ComboFix does not covert Word Document files (.doc files) to .rtf format. Perhaps what really happened is that you lost file association of .DOC files to Microsoft Word?

Why were you running ComboFix anyway.

Combofix was given to me by Dell when they were fixing a boot up problem. The problem started up again, so I used Combofix again, and it went away. The file association problem happened at the same time.

But ComboFix does not change file associations nor does it change file extensions from .doc to .rtf. What exactly is it that you are saying? Are you saying that your file extensions were all changed to .rtf ? Or are you saying that when you double click on a .DOC file that instead of Microsoft Word opening the file that Wordpad opens the file? Or do you mean something different?

Attach your last log from ComboFix and that will show us what ComboFix did. DO NOT RUN IT AGAIN. Just attach the log from the last time it was run.
