combofix not finishing

I just ran Combofix. It found and deleted a number of files, some of which had garbled letter names like "zjwejda."

When the computer rebooted I got the "preparing log, please wait" screen.

However, it never completed.

Combofix did not save a log or fix my computer's clock.

I tried running it again: same freeze-up after rebooting.

I have not had this problem with Combofix in the past.

Can anyone help? What should my next move be?
